Sunday evening July 25th a team of ladies was privileged to go to Oriana House to have “church” with the ladies there. We worshiped with them through singing, reading a devotional, and sharing the Word of God. We love singing with the ladies and we love watching them as the Holy Spirit softens their hearts. There are always a few tears, even from those of us that minister. The ladies love hearing the wonderful stories of God’s Grace as we give testimony of what God has done in our personal lives. I believe it gives them hope.

We shared with them out of 2 Corinthians 5:10-6:2. We were able to see in God’s Word how in Christ we can have a changed life. Through the power of God we can have new principles, new practices, new purpose, and new power. We also learned together that the Lord will give us new life, a new heart, a new nature, and finally new desires. Psalm 37:3-9 tells us to trust in the Lord, delight in the Lord, commit our ways to the Lord, rest in the Lord, and maybe the hardest one for most of us, wait on the Lord.

We count it a privilege to spend time with as many ladies that want to attend. We have a blessed time, and come away just as ministered to as they have been.

Thanks so much for your prayers for our team as we minister the glorious life changing Gospel of Jesus.

Please mark your calendars for the fourth Sunday of every month and remember to pray for us as we share God’s love with women in recovery at Oriana House on Power St.

Clothing Ministry:

I just wanted to thank everyone who has donated women’s clothing to the ministry! We have had literally truck loads to take over to the Oriana House, Rahab Ministries, and Legacy III. I will continue to collect clothes and shoes throughout the year. If you would like to donate any clothing or shoes please call me at 330-807-8226.

Thanks,

Chaplain Tamela

ABF PICNIC- July 10th

Our Adult Bible Fellowship from Maranatha Bible Church, along with Broken Chains Ministry had a picnic on Saturday July 10th at Mike & Connie Murphy’s house on Portage Lakes. We just wanted to bless the ladies of Legacy III, Brubaker, and Rahab Ministries with a fun day out. There was lots of great food, fishing, and corn toss and a pontoon boat ride. There were about 15-20 ladies in attendance and 30-40 people from our class, what a great way to assimilate these ladies into the body of believers. We really hope that all of you that attended were able to relax and have some fun, as well as to be a part of reaching out to ladies that need to be encouraged.

August 24. 2010

So in the month of July we had 75 requests for the Left Behind series books, I have several inmates, both male and female involved in the series. I have heard great testimonies about how the series has changed their whole outlook on end times. Thanks so much to those of you that have donated books to our library. If you have good Christian novels, please let me know, right now we need about six more copies of the first book of Left Behind, female novels, authors like Karen Cokesbury, Janette Oke, Beth Moore, etc. I cannot distribute any secular books due to union labor rules, but I can distribute “religious literature”
I can also use gently used study Bibles, no zippers or metal please.
Please continue to pray that God would speak to the heart of the readers.

Chaplain John

As you may be aware, Dennis and I have been trying to get good Christian books into the hands of the inmates here in the Summit County Jail.
We have been asking that if you have books in your library that you would be willing to donate that are in good shape we would love to take them off of your hands and get them into circulation. We also receive a lot of requests for study Bibles, remember there can be no metal, so that rules out zippered Bibles and most chapter tabs.

I wanted to give you an update on the progress of this effort…. I have received several hundred books and I have to tell you the books are going fast. Just today, I rolled our book cart into the gymnasium while the inmates were getting their exercise and they were on the cart like I had just set a table filled with steak and baked potatoes. One of the inmates asked me if we had any of the Left Behind series available and it just so happened that I had been given the whole series by someone just a few days before. He began to tell me that the guys were so into that series that they wouldn’t even come out of their cells for hours. I gave him the whole set for his housing unit and he is going to make sure that they stay in circulation on the pod so that not any one person monopolizes the series. Needless to say, I am asking that if any of you have the Left Behind series and would be willing to part with them , I would like to have 15 more sets, one for each pod.

If you would be interested in giving books, please contact me by email and we will make arrangements to pick them up. Remember, material gifts are tax deductible, and will be receipted upon request.

Thanks so much,

Chaplain John Wiseman

A thought: most folks buy a book and read it once, and then it sits on your shelf for a thousand years until you die and then your family throws them away , or something like that. If you buy a book read it and then donate it to the jail, it may get read a couple hundred times or more, really. I am not kidding. We have some folks that are ravenous when it comes to good books.

Thanks so much,

Dennis and I are asking for your prayers in regard to developing our post release ministry. We, for years have desired to have a campus for men and women coming out of jail and prison. We don’t know what that may look like, or when or where that will be, but we are burdened to do this.

Please continue to pray to the Lord of the Harvest asking for wisdom, finances and laborers to do the work that He has called us to.

We have always believed that God’s work, done God’s way, will never lack God’s provision.

Thank you.
