Lydia's Home Celebrates Five Years

Congratulations to Lydia’s Home as it celebrates its five-year anniversary.

Throughout the past five years, many Lydia’s Home residents have been reunited with their children and families, obtained full-time employment, and become active members of the community and a local church family. They have worked hard to reinstate driver’s licenses, purchase vehicles, secure stable housing and insurance, and have ultimately transformed their lives through our unique program.

“Now, Lydia’s Home has served 30 residents, and half have fully completed the program, which is incredible,” said Dennis Shawhan, executive director of Broken Chains Ministry. “And, beyond that, every resident has either rededicated their life to Christ, or has made a powerful first-time profession of faith which has been transformative.”

“We have seen the Lord work wonders in the lives of our residents, even through persistent pandemic conditions,” said Tamela Shawhan, director of operations of Lydia’s Home. “As we celebrate the accomplishments of these women, we look forward to helping many more transform their lives.”

In 2020, Lydia’s Home received its State of Ohio Certification from Ohio Recovery Housing (ORH) as a Level III Recovery Residence. Lydia’s Home meets national standards of the National Alliance for Recovery Residences (NARR.) This is a major accomplishment reflecting adherence to a high code of ethics and quality standards.
