Congratulations to Lydia’s Home as it celebrates its four-year anniversary. Throughout the past four years, many Lydia’s Home residents have been reunited with their children and families, obtained full-time employment, and become active members of the community and a local church family. They have worked hard to reinstate driver’s license, purchase vehicles, secure stable housing and insurance, and have ultimately transformed their lives through the Lydia’s Home program.
“More than half of the 25 Lydia’s Home residents have graduated successfully from the program,” said Dennis Shawhan, executive director of Broken Chains Ministry. “And, beyond that, every resident has either rededicated their lives to Christ, or have made a powerful first-time profession of faith which has been transformative.”
“Even in the midst of a pandemic, we have seen the Lord work wonders in the lives of our residents,” said Tamela Shawhan, director of operations of Lydia’s Home “As we celebrate the accomplishments of so many women, we look forward to many more years of service and opportunities to help women in our community transform their lives.”
In 2020, Lydia’s Home received its State of Ohio Certification from Ohio Recovery Housing (ORH) as a Levell III Recovery Residence, and meets National Standards of the National Alliance for Recovery Residences (NARR.)
This is a major accomplishment reflecting an adherence to a high code of ethics and quality standards. Through the dedication of our staff and supporters, Lydia’s Home was able to sustain the 60% occupancy rate required during persistent pandemic conditions to maintain this important certification.
